Correlation of Chronic Viral hepatitis B and liver function Tests

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is one of the important challenges facing world. The persistence or clearance HBV often determined by host's immune responses. current study was conducted during June-October 2018 on 80 patients with chronic and 96 age- gender-matched healthy controls. results showed that most were males (62.5%) while females constituted 37.5%. patients' serum positive for anti-HBc IgG HbsAG antibodies, it negative anti-Hbc IgM antibodies. These findings consistent interpretation infection. Four liver function tests performed, including alkaline phosphatase (ALP), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate (AST) total bilirubin (TSB). A significant increase in ALP, ALT, AST levels observed compared to controls, TSB no differences. However, receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, only ALP occupied an excellent area under curve, which > 0.90.
